When I was a kid I used to constantly imagine my life as a super genius computer scientist. I was enamored with the idea of making any type of device my mind could conjure up. I would often take apart old electronics and pretend to build complex computer systems out of them. One time I even took apart a broken radio and tried to develop a device that could produce a force field around my house. I was appreciating the technologies that computer scientists create, but I had no appreciation, nor understanding, of what actually went into having the life of a scientist.

How often do we judge or assume what life is like for others? In this issue we take a look at the lives of others in a few different situations that range from trying out for America’s next Top Model, running for student senate and overcoming alcoholism. However, regardless of how much we know about a person, it is not always so easy to understand and appreciate what their life must be like.
